Year 6 Weekly Blog
15.11.24
Good afternoon,
We've had a very busy week this week in Y6! We had a great Rippa Rugby session on Monday, a Remembrance service at the War Memorial, Chance to Shine cricket and today our week was topped off with a great visit to The Mayflower for the opera. The children were so beautifully behaved, and we are very proud of them.
In maths, we have continued our work on Fractions and the children have been adding and subtracting fractions with different denominators and mixed numbers. We will continue this work next week as it needs consolidating before we move on to multiplying fractions.
In English, we have moved on to a new text called 'Floodland' by Marcus Sedgwick. The children made some predictions and then wrote their own version of the story opening. We will continue with this text being our stimulus next week.
A reminder that on Thursday next week, there will be some parent workshops happening in every class to explain how we teach maths, reading and spelling in school and to offer some tips on how to support your children at home. The Y6 session is at 4pm in our classroom. We hope to see lots of you there.
Have a lovely weekend.
