Year 6 Weekly Blog
7.11.24
Good afternoon,
The children have settled back into our routines really well this week.
In Maths, we have started our fractions unit of work. So far, we have recapped finding equivalent fractions and simplifying these. We have also been comparing and ordering fractions. We will continue to build on our fraction work next week.
In English, the children have been writing their motivational letters to their future selves, based on the work we have been doing on Marcus Rashford and other inspirational speakers. The children should all bring home their published letters in an envelope today, to be kept somewhere safe and opened somewhen in their future lives when they might need some encouragement. We talked in class about the times that these letters might help, and the suggestions that the children came up with were: when they start their first job, when they move to college, when they lose someone they love, when someone has upset them. The children have worked so hard on their letters, so hopefully they will be a lovely keepsake for the future!
Changes to the timetable for this half-term:
We will all have PE on a Thursday morning where the children will be taking part in Chance to Shine cricket. Half of the children will then have another PE lesson in the afternoon, when the other half of the class have Forest School.
We also have a one-off bonus PE lesson on Monday next week when the children will have a taster session with Rippa Rugby.
Have a great weekend.
