We Enjoy and Excel in the Presence of God

Year 6 Weekly Blog

25.10.24

Good afternoon,

This week we have welcomed Miss Parker into Year 6 who is a trainee teacher completing her PGCE at The University of Winchester. She will be training with us in Year 6 until February. The children have already welcomed her brilliantly.

It was great to see so many of you at Parents' Evening this week to celebrate the children's successes so far this term. It has been a great first half-term. We have been really busy so the children deserve a well-earned rest.

In Year 6 this week we have been learning about Black History Month. We've learnt about why it was invented and we have been studying two famous black people in our English and Guided Reading lessons. We have been reading extracts from two books: You Are A Champion by Marcus Rashford and a book called Young, Gifted and Black. We will continue this work after half-term when the children will be writing a motivational letter to themselves.

The Year 6 enjoyed a great career session this afternoon with Corbin's Florist. The children learnt about how the business works, the journey that Sarah, the owner, has been on, and had the opportunity to make their own 'button holes'.

We hope you all have a lovely half term!
