Year 6 Weekly Blog
13.1.23
Good afternoon,
Year 6 have been busy this week, back in their normal routines.
In English, we have been exploring a new text which is called 'The Lion and the Unicorn'. This book is about a boy called Lenny, who was a child during WW2. We have discussed the feelings of the characters, the children have written some brilliant setting descriptions linked to the story and they have summarised the key events. Next week, the children will be writing contrasting letters in role as Lenny.
In Maths, we have been recapping some place value knowledge, before applying this knowledge to some fractions, decimals and percentage work. We will continue this work next week, applying this to some more complex problems.
The children who started Forest School this week came back very excited and said that they thoroughly enjoyed this.
In Science today, the children carried out some research linked to inheritance and which traits we inherit and which ones we learn. The children found out some fascinating facts!
This week, we have also welcomed Miss Billson from The University of Winchester. She will be working with us in Year 6 up to the Easter holidays. The children have been very welcoming.
We hope you have a lovely weekend.
