Year 6 Weekly Blog
11.2.22
Good afternoon,
The children have been working hard all week. We have continued with our unit on 'Heroes' in English, looking at some extracts of text and writing some pieces including bullet points and hyphenated words.
We have been looking at a variety of mental arithmetic and estimation strategies in maths, helping to improve the children's efficiency when doing a calculation. They are becoming more and more fluent with these and it's been great to listen to each other's methods and share the way that works best for each individual.
We had a successful day yesterday making our bags in DT, which the children designed with the purpose of carrying a gas mask, but they have now chosen other uses for them. The children had to be extremely patient and resilient with the sewing which proved difficult at times, but they all finished with a completed bag and were proud of their finished product.
Pia joined us on Thursday morning, teaching the children some drawing skills in Art to represent people moving. She commented on what a lovely class we have and how engaged the children were, so we were extremely proud of them all!
Miss Martin looks forward to seeing you at Parent's Evening next week.
We hope you have a lovely weekend.
