Year 5 Blog

Week beginning 17.03.25
Dear parents and carers,
We have had 2 exciting events this week. On Thursday, the children had their third session with the team from The Pig Hotel and Restaurant, making, cooking and eating bread. Our thanks go to Alex and the chefs for giving the children this wonderful opportunity.
Today is Red Nose Day! School Council followed on from Mrs Edwards’ worship on Monday to deliver their own worship today, showing some ways in which the money we raised goes to helping children in the UK and beyond. Thank you to all those who donated to this worthy cause.
This week in geography the children moved on from 4-figure grid references to 6-figure grid references, to locate places on maps with increasing accuracy.
In maths we are again working with fractions. This week, the children were multiplying fractions by a unit, then a non-unit fraction.
In writing, the children planned their diaries in preparation for writing and editing next week.
In reading we started our new text driver, The Nowhere Emporium - one of Mrs Erdbeer's favourite books. We were looking closely at how meaning is enhanced through word choice.
We also immensely enjoyed the warm weather and got outside as much as possible!
Have a lovely weekend.
