Year 5 Blog
Week beginning 14.10.24
Dear parents and carers,
This week the children have been planning and writing their journey narratives based around the book, Wild is the Wind. They have really impressed us with using some key writing skills, such as relative clauses using a range of relative pronouns and fronted adverbial phases to convey complicated information. They have been a pleasure to read.
We have thoroughly enjoyed a better week for weather than was forecast. This week, those at Forest School cooked caramelised cinnamon apples on an open fire. If your child was not in this group, but did ART lessons, they will require Forest School kit next half-term (every Tuesday afternoon).
In RE we have been looking at what makes a god. The children designed their own, before finding out what qualities Christians believe God has- eternal, omniscient, omnipotent, holy, spirit, loving. Next week we will look at a real-life building to see where the concepts of LOVING and HOLY can be found.
We had a fantastic PE lesson this week. The children used the skills they have learnt in their golf lessons to create their own games for others to play. There were some really impressive ideas demonstrated.
Have a lovely weekend.
