Year 5 Blog
Week beginning 23.09.24
Dear parents and carers,
It is the children’s Harvest Service on Wed 2nd October in the church. We feel it is very important for each child to carry something with them to donate to the Food Bank. If you are able to please could you send your child in to Y5 with something/s to give from Monday onwards. Mrs Edwards will buy some tins for those children who have not been able to bring anything.
This week we compared Brockenhurst to Hiemaey on Iceland, looking for similarities and differences. The children asked some great questions for us to answer eg. Does Hiemaey have badgers? Does Hiemaey have a 6th Form College? Is Hiemaey south of the Arctic Circle?
In French we have been studying ‘Salutations’ and this week played ‘Jacques a Dit’ with commands in French.
In our writing unit we looked at how the use of relative clauses can help us to extend sentences with extra detail- we used them both within and at the end of a sentence.
Have a great weekend.
