Year 5 Blog
Week beginning 24.06.24
Dear parents and carers,
This week Year 5 have been planning a new area for New Park. Once final plans are decided upon, we hope to be able to help with the tree planting. In 30 years it would be lovely for our children to be able to re-visit the area to see how it has developed over time.
In maths we have looked at reflections in a mirror line- a topic that on face value seems straightforward, but children often find tricky. We have carried out lots of practical activities and looked at the common misconceptions that can occur.
In writing the children have completed their formal report based around a lunar landing. They really stretched themselves with vocabulary choice and sentence structure - impressive work Year 5!
In science we were testing how our heart rate changes when we do exercise, and hopefully now, everyone is able to easily find their own heart rates.
We had a super fun PE lesson with the Year 10 Priestlands students who ran a very successful game of rounders - thank you boys!
Thank you to everyone who has provided boxes for the D&T project. The children have all finished their designs and are now ready to start making their cam toys next week.
A big thank you to Robert Gomm from New Forest Pickleball, who visited Year 5 on Wednesday and generously gave up his time to teach us all about the 'kitchen' and a 'dink' in PE. What a fab game!
Have a lovely weekend.
