We Enjoy and Excel in the Presence of God

Year 5 Blog

Dear parents and carers,

Forest school next week will be on Monday 20th and not Tuesday 21st May, and Forest School children will need their kit. A reminder, that Forest School takes place in all weathers and the children should be in appropriate clothing.

This week, in geography, the children researched the cultural heritage of The New Forest National Park, investigating commoners, agisters and verderers for example.

In writing we revised using expanded noun phrases, relative clauses, and the use of commas to clarify meaning in a sentence. The children will be using these skills, amongst others, in their final journey narrative.

In reading we completed our unit of work on the Nowhere Emporium and over the next half-term this will be our class read.

In maths we have been focusing on what percentages are and how they relate to fractions.

In science we were making pulley systems to prove that a pulley will reduce the amount of force needed to pull a load.

We have all loved the computing unit this half-term. The children have been using the programme Tinkercad to design different 3D structures.

Have a lovely weekend.
