Year 5 Blog
Week beginning 16.01.23
Dear parents and carers,
Thank you for all the trip reply slips that have been returned.
This week we have continued our Shackleton unit and have now read the whole book. Some children have done some excellent further research on Shackleton's expedition on Endurance and their work has been displayed in the class.
We started our new unit in geography, "Why are mountains so important?" The children had to define what a mountain is, and we are delighted that their definition is better than the one in the dictionary! They have used atlases to locate the Himalaya, the Andes, the Urals, the Atlas mountains, the Rockies and the Alps.
In maths we have paused our geometry unit and will be starting decimal numbers next week.
We will be starting a new reading unit following on from the travel website work.
Please remember Group 1 needs wellies and waterproofs for Forest School on Wednesday.
Have a great weekend.
