Year 4

Year 4 - 31.01.2025
We have had another fantastic week in Year 4. The class had a great time on Thursday afternoon during the Pantomime performance of Sleeping Beauty. Some children enjoyed it more than they thought they would! Thank you to the PTA for organising this event. In art, the children produced some wonderful Turner inspired perspective watercolour paintings. I was so impressed with their focus and creativity – they look brilliant!
In maths, we have been multiplying by 10 and 100 and then moved on to dividing by 10. The children have used their knowledge of place value to move the numbers to make them 10 or 100 times bigger or 10 times smaller. We have looked at how it is important not to just pop a zero on the end of a number, as this does not change the place value of each digit. They have become increasingly fluent in this area throughout the week and tackled some challenging problems. Well done Year 4!
In English, we have written, edited and published our own narratives linked to, ‘The Boy Who Lost His Spark’. The children showed fantastic resilience when publishing their writing and worked hard to ensure their writing was clear and neat. They then became illustrators and created some lovely pictures to accompany their writing.
Just so you are aware – we have changed our library slot to a Friday. As the last Friday of this half term is an INSET day, I will ensure the children have an opportunity to visit the library earlier in the week.
We hope you have a great weekend.
