Year 4
Year 4 - 17.01.2025
We have had a great week in Year 4! We have continued our science journey into plant reproduction and pollination. This week we learnt the names of the different parts of a flowering plant. We took a closer look by dissecting daffodils. We carried out some fantastic observations and were able to draw and label all parts of a flowering plant. Year 4 have also enjoyed their first Samba music lesson for the term. Mrs Thomas was very impressed with their enthusiasm and focus when learning new instruments.
In maths, we have been looking at multiplying numbers by 1 and 0 and dividing numbers by 1 and itself. The children have used resources and pictures to understand what is happening to the numbers and have then built fluency at answering these types of questions. We have then moved onto multiplying three single digit numbers. We have looked at reorganising the numbers in order to be efficient and used our times table fluency to help us work out the answers.
In English this week we have continued our learning journey linked to “The Boy Who Lost His Spark”. We have identified fronted adverbials within the text and looked at why they are used and how they are punctuated correctly. The class then started to use them in their own writing.
This week we also worked on a class Worship all about our current learning value: Resilience. The class had the option of speaking in front of the school, and I was impressed with how many children wanted to take part. The children chose songs linked to resilience, wrote poems, shared times that they have been resilient and wrote a prayer to end. Well done Year 4!
We hope you have a lovely weekend.
