Year 4
Year 4 - 28.04.2024
We have had a great first week back. We have been reflecting on Hooke Court and all of the fun we had. I shared during our whole school Worship how proud all of the adults were of year 4 and how brilliantly they all did.
In English this week we have been looking at a new text called, ‘Greenling’. The class have enjoyed exploring the text, performing a section and thinking about the deeper meaning behind the author’s words.
In maths, we have been looking at tenths and representing these as decimals and fractions. We have used pictures, place value charts and number lines to secure our understanding of tenths and their value and linked this to solving some complex problems!
In other news this week; we have started our new geography unit linked to the New Forest, enjoyed drawing our own treehouses in art and carried out an investigation in science linked to our electricity unit! Another highlight was welcoming in some students from Brockenhurst College. Year 4 really enjoyed the energetic, fun session that was delivered.
Homework tasks have been set on EdShed. Please do also continue to practise times tables at home. The children have been taught the times tables up to 12 x and it is important that they work on becoming increasingly fluent in them.
We hope you all have a great weekend.
