Year 4 - 06.10.2023
We have had a great week. One highlight was the whole school coming together for our Harvest service at St Saviours Church. We enjoyed a service with Simon and Mel and shared the songs Conkers and Autumn Days. Thank you all very much for your generous donations for the food bank.
In English this week we have started our new film unit. The children have explored the mood and atmosphere of the film and gathered a range of vocabulary linked to the senses. The class are also enjoying looking at a picture book text called Tuesday, which they have found very amusing! It was great to see the class so engaged with some drama work!
In maths, we have been rounding to the nearest 10, 100 and 1000. The class used number lines to help them round and to check their answers. They are definitely becoming more fluent when rounding and can explain their reasoning. Well done year 4!
Another exciting part of our week was science! We have been learning about different mixtures and finding out that some substances dissolve whereas others do not. Applying our knowledge that sugar dissolves when added to a liquid, we investigated what the impact of the amount of water would be on the dissolving process. To bring this to life we used some Skittles and carried out observations. We then shared our findings as a class and wrote conclusions.
We hope you all have a good weekend.
