Year 4
Year 4 - 08.09.2023
Welcome back! We hope you have all had a fantastic summer. We have had a great first week in Year 4. It has been a pleasure spending time getting to know your children. The class have coped brilliantly in the heat but are now ready for a restful weekend!
In maths this week we have been reviewing place value knowledge from year 3. We have looked at a variety of representations and applied our knowledge to a range of reasoning and problem solving tasks.
In English, we have been exploring our new text, ‘Fox and the Deep Sea Quest.’ We have explored the structure of the text and looked at the main character. We have become detectives and inferred how Fox is feeling and discussed some of the new vocabulary we have encountered.
In other news this week, Forest School has started which the children are thoroughly enjoying! Children in Group 1 have come home with a note to detail clothing they need. Group 2 will begin Forest School after October half term. We have had our first PSHE session where we focussed on getting to know each other, being inclusive and working as a team. We have also worked together as a class to create our own class charter and thought about how we can come together to make our classroom a positive and happy place to be.
All children have today come home with their reading diary. Inside they have login details for EdShed and TT Rockstars. Homework will be set next week.
Year 4 Routines:
- Book change will be every Wednesday.
- EdShed maths and spelling tasks will be set every Wednesday.
