We have had a lovely week in year 4. Our highlight was definitely celebrating World Book Day! We took part in a virtual author visit with Helen Rutter and ‘The Kids Comedy Club’. Helen Rutter read a chapter from her new book, ‘The Funniest Boy in the World’ and lots of the children came away from the session really wanting to read on! We also explored a picture book called ‘Comet’. This is a beautiful book with very few words where the pictures really do tell the story of the characters’ emotions and journeys. It was also wonderful to get together in the afternoon and share everyone’s fantastic costume creativity! All children have been given a WBD voucher that they can exchange for a £1.00 book. Alternatively, you could use this voucher as a £1.00 token towards the books at our upcoming book fair.

In other news this week, we have started our Design and Technology textiles unit for this term. The children have been exploring cuddly toys and why they are so popular. We will be building up to making our own toys to take with us to Hooke Court.

In English, we have been recapping expanded noun phrases and different types of apostrophes. We have identified them in our class text and then moved on to using them in our own writing. 

In maths, we have been focussing on addition. We have been using column method to add two 4 digit numbers and exchange. We have focused on the presentation of our work to enable us to work accurately and spot any errors.
