We have had a great week in year 4! We have started our new English unit which is all about ‘The Polar Express’. We have used film clips and discussed vocabulary and then looked at extracts of the text and made inferences. We are looking forward to exploring more of the story next week!

In maths, we have been focusing on multiplying 2 digit numbers by 1 digit numbers. The children become very fluent in partitioning the numbers to help them multiply and then adding the two answers together.

In Guided Reading we have been looking at a book called ‘Wild Robot’. We have been reading this out loud as a class with all children taking it in turns to read aloud. We have then explored the text at a deeper level by looking at new vocabulary in context and asking and answering questions.

In art, we have been inspired by J M W Turner and drawn our own perspective drawings of a train. We will be finishing and painting these next week.
