Year 4 Weekly Blog Post
18/9/20
Hello everyone,
We have had a great second week back in Year 4! We have been trying to enjoy this lovely weather as much as possible by getting outside for our learning. We spent Science this week in the sensory garden, exploring the different leaves on the plants and taking note of the edges, how they are arranged, if they are symmetrical or alternate.
The children have been working so hard in all subjects! In maths we have been working on our Place Value, thinking about partitioning four digit numbers and working out the value of the digits, as well as applying this into reasoning and problem solving contexts.
In English, we have been exploring a beautiful picture book called 'Journey'. The children have been writing setting descriptions, thinking about how to describe using all of their senses, rather than just what they can see. They have developed some great language and some really lovely pieces of writing to start the year off.
We have been busy reading with your children over the last few weeks so they should now be bringing home their school reading book and their Reading Record each day. We are encouraging the children to build their independence by filling in their own Reading Record each time they read on their own or with an adult at home. We will also be filling these in when they are read with in class, so please encourage your child to bring this in each day.
Spelling Homework should now be live. Mathletics will also be added on Wednesday 23rd.
Hope you all have a great weekend!
