Year 4
22/11/19 - News of the week
In maths this week, we have been working on fractions. We have been learning about equivalent fractions and what strategies we can use to find out if fractions are the same. We have used fraction walls to help us, drawn bars and we have worked out that you have to do the same to the numerator as you do to the denominator when creating an equivalent fraction. This has been really challenging but the children have worked really hard and we will continue with our work on fractions next week.
Over the next few weeks, we will be focusing on the film 'The Polar Express' in our English lessons. If your child has not seen it before and there is a rainy day over the weekend (very likely!), then this may be a good film to watch in preparation. We will be watching clips from the film in our lessons to help our writing too.
For the school trip next week, please make sure that your children have plenty of layers, waterproof trousers (great if you already have them, but not essential) and a waterproof coat. There has been an email sent out today about photo permission for a press release to do with the trip and the children have been sent home slips about this too so please check their bags.
Mathletics and Spelling Shed homework are live!
Hope you all have a lovely weekend!
