Year 3
Friday 3rd May
Good afternoon Everyone
We've had a busy few weeks in Year 3. Sorry for the lack of a blog last week, but we've been having a few technical issues with our internet at school - it's all fixed now, we hope!
We have finished our unit on The Iron Man by completing our own mystery stories. The children's writing has been imaginative and full of exciting vocabulary. I was very proud of how hard they all worked.
Our art unit, focussing on the work of Antony Gormley continues. Yesterday, the children all created a clay figure which we will use to create a collaborative piece of art - watch this space (we're just waiting for the clay to dry!)
We were joined by some students from Brockenhurst College this afternoon who put the children through their paces in an action packed PE session. It was great fun and hopefully has used up some of their energy!
We will be focussing on time in a few weeks in our maths lessons. The curriculum assumes that by this point in Year 3, the children are able to tell the time. This is a skill that needs lots and lots of practise. Please support us by frequently asking your child what the time is, getting them to read it from an analogue clock or watch. Please remember, children are allowed to wear watches to school and this is another way to support them learning to tell the time.
Enjoy the long weekend, let's hope the sun shines!
