Year 3
Friday Blog - Friday 23rd February
We've had a great first week back after our half-term break. There's been lots of excitement with new places and new topics.
In English we started a new book called It Starts With a Seed by Laura Knowles. This is a non-fiction book with a difference - the words are lyrical and poetic and the pictures are beautifully illustrated. We have all had a go at presenting non-fiction facts in the same way, with some excellent results.
Length and measuring have filled our maths lessons this week. We've worked in metres, centimetres and millimetres, learning to use rulers, metre sticks and even a trundle wheel to measure things accurately. The children's confidence has grown through the week and they have all tried their best.
In other subjects we have begun looking at plants in Science, the importance of Good Friday to Christians in RE, Earthqukaes in Geography and keeping healthy in our jigsaw lesson. I challenged the children to find out about the Christchurch earthquake, so they might have come home and asked you some questions!
I forgot to tell you in my last blog how well the children had done in Music. Mr Thomas asked me to come and see them perform the piece they had worked on together. It was very impressive and I was delighted to see how well they had worked as a team - well done Y3!
Have a lovely weekend,
Clare
