Year 3
Friday Blog - Friday 5th January
Happy New Year to you all!
I hope you all had an enjoyable Christmas break. The children have come back to school full of beans and ready to go. It's a shame the weather has been so wet. Fingers crossed for a bit of cold, dry winter weather now.
In English, we have started a fantastic book - The Mousehole Cat by Antonia Barber. We have been able to interview a local resident from Cornwall who was able to tell us all about the legendary story of Tom Bawcock and how this is still celebrated in Mousehole on the day before Christmas Eve. We're looking forward to reading more of the story next week.
In Maths, we have been continuing our learning in multiplication and division. This week we have focussed on the 4 x table. Please remember that Time Table rockstars is available to help your child to practise their times tables.
There has been a little staff reshuffle and we have been joined in Year 3 by Mrs Shilton who will be with us every morning and some afternoons.
A reminder that swimming starts next week. The children are (sort of) looking forward to it. We have had a chat about it this week, which gave the children a chance to voice any concerns. I know that some of them are a bit nervous. I'm sure after the first week they will be happier about the whole experience. If you have any questions or concerns, please get in touch. Many thanks to the parents who have volunteered to come and help. If there is anyone else available, even if you can only do some of the weeks, please let me know. If you haven't sent your permission form back to school I will be chasing you next week!
Best wishes for the weekend,
Clare
