In Maths this week, we have been solving multiplication and division problems using different strategies including; array, number lines and column multiplication. We have also started to look at division with remainders. The children work practically, to solve these problems, this was a challenge for most children. Any extra practise practically will support their understanding.

In English, we have been looking at news reports, identifying key features and layout including; headline, subheading, captions, photographs in preparation for writing their own news report next week. The children have worked in teams and shared their knowledge excellently.

In Jigsaw (PSHE), we have been learning about relationships, ‘being a global citizen’. Discussing the differences between ‘a need’ and ‘a want’. We sorted these into a Venn diagram. We then looked at photographs of different situations for example; a little boy collecting water. We discussed our rights and tried to empathise with the children in the stories and imagine how they might be feeling. The children had some great ideas.

This week we have stressed the importance of reading at home as well as school. The children should have come home with a bookmark, with all our reading dogs we use throughout our reading sessions, this is to support their comprehension. After or during reading please use this to help check your child's understanding.

Unfortunately we did not have enough this week so another big plea please we are hoping to make some models in art next week, if you have any cardboard boxes (different sizes), yoghurt pots, cardboard tubes, plastic bottles,  plastic bottle tops or any other junk modelling materials please send them in (Due to allergies please be aware that we cannot except anything that has contained nuts) Thank you to all those who have already sent some in.  

On Tuesday 23rd May - we will be doing a special P.E Session please ensure your child has the correct kit. Thank you.
