In English, we completed our Charlotte’s web’ unit, Mr Arable visited and the children loved asking him questions in preparation for their writing. Later this week the children wrote persuasive letters, practising writing in paragraphs and using rhetorical questions as a persuasive device. These letters were great and I think Mr Arable would definitely be persuaded to keep Wilbur the pig!

We have continued reading Charlotte’s web as our class read, the children have loved building their confidence and reading aloud to the rest of the class. They have done a fab job.

In Guided Reading, we have been reading ‘The Iron Man’, the children have really enjoyed chapter one, I have attached the story for the children to reread chapter 1 and then read chapter 2. You can always share this reading or read to your child.  Discuss any new vocabulary.

In Maths, we have been revisiting strategies such as arrays and number lines to help us solve division and multiplication questions. We have been learning to apply our knowledge when solving these problems.

A little reminder it is so important children know (x2, x5, x10 year 2) x3 x4 x8 by the end of year 3. Children need to be able to recall these at speed, the more practise they can do the better. I recommend TT Rock Stars and Hit the button. Little and often is best.

Homework this week;

• Reread chapter 1 and then read chapter 2 of The Iron Man (see attached)   
• Timestable Rockstars (x3, x4, x8) and/ or Hit the button
• Spelling (Edshed)
