Year 3 Blog - 27.4.23
Year 3 had a wonderful time at Butser Ancient Farm this week. They spent time exploring the Iron Age village and took part in some exciting activities to bring their learning to life including; spinning wool, creating a clay pot, chalk carving and creating their own jewellery. The staff at Butser Farm were so impressed with the children’s behaviour and knowledge on the Stone Age, Bronze Age and Iron Age.
The children have created fantastic diary entries of their day, demonstrating their knowledge about the Iron Age.
In English this week, we have been learning about possessive apostrophes and when to use them to show singular and plural nouns. This has been a challenge, so I have asked the children to spot them in their reading books and think about when the author has used.
In Maths we have revisited multiplication and division unit alongside fractions. The children have been working hard on making links between division and fractions in particularly tenths. Again this has been challenging so if you’d like your child to practise this skill I have set some additional homework on Edshed.
In Art, the children had a great time exploring different grades of pencils when drawing their own version of the Iron Man in the style of Chris Mould.
