Over the next few weeks we will be focusing on poetry. Therefore, we would like the children to read and enjoy poems. We would like the children to select a favourite poem and share with us at school. Read and discuss as many different poems as you can, from different poets. Encourage your child to explain what they like and dislike. This will really help your child to explore a range of different poetry and be exposed to a wide variety of rich language and vocabulary. We cannot wait to find out what poems are their favourites and why. We aim to create a special poetry corner within our book area. Please ensure your child has completed this by 12.1.23

In Maths, we have recapped on our previous measuring unit. This week we have practically measuring different objects around school and learning how to solve problems related to measure this involves converting units of measure including metres (m), centimetres (cm) and millimetres (mm). Many children have found this a tricky concept to grasp please encourage them to complete the homework which will allow them to practise these skills. They may also want to practise measuring items around the house.

Reminder

* Swimming Lessons will take place next Friday 13^th January, please ensure your child’s belongings are named. Ensure they have their swimming costume/trunks, a towel, coat, water bottle, small bag to carry all their swimming gear, swimming hat/googles (optional). We will return to school at 3.25 and children will be dismissed as normal (from the classroom door) They will need to collect their school belongings.

It is so wonderful to see so many children reading at home, little and often is so important. It is so important to encourage and foster a love of reading so reading a range of books/magazines/comics is really important but for fluency and progression in reading skills children must read their school book. When reading at home, please make a note in their diary, thank you.
