We Enjoy and Excel in the Presence of God

Year 2

11/10/24

Hello,

We have exciting news! On 13th November 2024 we will be visiting the Seacity Museum in Southampton. The letter for the trip has been sent home with the children and a copy can be found below. Please send in permission slips before half-term.

The children had a lot of fun this week designing an experiment to find out which material is best to wrap and send a present.  We then went on to the playground and the parcels were passed around - tin foil is definitely not the best wrapping for a parcel!

In maths, we have been securing our number bonds to 100, for example 10 and 90 make 100, 20 and 80 make 100.

For English, we have been looking at imperative verbs put, get, fill, fetch and time connectives, first, next, then, finally.

In Geography, we have been comparing conditions in Antarctica and the Sahara Desert.

Don't forget to book your appointments for parents' evening.

Finally, one of the children bought in an empty wasps nest (picture above) which was fascinating to look at and we were fascinated by the hexagons created by the wasps - isn't nature amazing!

Have a lovely weekend,

The Year 1 Team.
