Year 2
Friday 3rd November 2023
What a crazy week weather wise and there seems to be more rain forecast for the weekend!
Penguins have made a super start to the new half term and continued to be superstars following their return to school.
In English we have started our new book Samsons Titanic Journey (I think this might be one of their favourite stories so far!). The children have asked questions about the story based on the front cover and blurb, made predictions about what Samson would do on Titanic having left the boiler room and have also written how they would feel if they were on board the Titanic when it hit an iceberg - their writing was amazing!
In maths we have been adding and subtracting 1 digit numbers from 2 digit numbers acrosss 10 and in science we have started our new unit on materials by going on a material hunt around school.
We have also started learning our songs for our nativity Baubles. Your child should have brought home the script with their lines highlighted a few days ago (if it didn't make it home let me know!). If you were able to help your child learn and practice their lines at home this would be hugely appreciated. We won't need costumes in school for a few weeks but if you have any questions about what your child should wear please catch me at the end of the day or drop me an email.
Next week we are off to SeaCity! I know Penguins are super exited for this trip especially as we are going by train! Just a reminder that the children need to be in school uniform and bring a coat, water bottle, snack and if you haven't ordered a school lunch for your child they will need a packed lunch too. Any questions about the trip let me know!
We hope you all manage to stay dry and warm, have a lovely weekend and we will see you next week!
