Year 2

It has been an another lovely week in Penguin class!
The children have been working hard on their measuring skills with one of their favourite activities of the week being measuring out different amounts of water into cylinders. We have also been practising our addition and subtractions skills specifically focusing on problem solving.
In English, we have continued our work on the Lighthouse Keepers Lunch exploring new vocabulary and using this in our writing. We have also read the Lighthouse Keepers Picnic and compared the stories - the children spotted lots of similarities and differences.
In geography, we have been learning about why there are lots of dairy farms in Devon and in science we have been investigating how different materials affect the speed a marble goes down a marble run! We have also made our crowns for the coronation tea party - they look amazing!
Next week we have a very exciting week…extra day off school, our trip to Longdown Dairy Farm (own clothes for this) and our coronation tea party (school uniform for this). Penguins are super excited!
Have a brilliant bank holiday weekend (fingers crossed the sun comes out!) and I will see you next week!
Miss Michael :)
