Year 2
Year 2 - 06.11.2020
Welcome back year 2! We hope you all enjoyed half term. It is lovely to see you all back again.
This week we have started our new history topic which is all about the Titanic. The children have really enjoyed learning about the different facilities on board the Titanic. We have also started a new text in English that is linked to the Titanic. The children have been making predictions, asking questions and exploring character’s feelings.
In maths we have continued with money. I have been so proud of year 2, who have worked with such resilience. Money can be a challenging area of learning. We have counted different amounts of money and then ended the week by working out how many different ways we can use money to make a specific amount. We also reasoned why we could not make 50p by adding 40p and 10p by explaining that a 40p coin does not exist and then showing how we could make it using coins. The opportunity for children to explore money at home would really support their learning in this area.
In science we explored the school grounds to observe the changes to our school now that autumn is here. We thought back to the observations we made in September, and looked at the changes in temperature, as well as the beautiful colours we can see. It was so lovely to enjoy the sunshine that we decided to have our golden time outside too!
Let’s hope the sun continues to shine for the weekend.
Best wishes
Miss Blick
