Year 2 - 13.09.2019
We have had a brilliant week in year 2. In English we have been reminding ourselves about the things we need for our writing and trying hard to remember full stops and capital letters. In preparation for starting our class text next week, we have been thinking about friendship and what qualities a good friend has. We have recorded these in the form of an acrostic poem. The children were very familiar with this type of poem from year 1 and have produced some great work.
In maths we have been revisiting numbers to 100. We have been counting objects, pictures and ordering numbers using a range of different resources including the number line. The children have really persevered with their numbers this week and have been growing in confidence. It would be great to keep practising counting at home too – forwards and backwards in ones and 10’s starting from any number.
Today we have handed out reading books, reading records and key words. The children will be reminded to hand any books in any books that have been read for changing. Each child will also have a library book that they can change on a weekly basis – every Monday. Some children have also had their maths fluency cards updated for you to practise at home.
We hope you enjoy the lovely sunshine and have a great weekend.
Miss Blick
