Year 2
Year 2 12.07.2019 plus end of year information
I just wanted to say well done to all of year 2 – in sports day last week they behaved beautifully, tried their best and supported each other regardless of which teams they were in. It was a lovely day and wonderful to see so many of you in the afternoon. We hope you enjoyed it.
In English we have been looking at a film unit called ‘Zahra’. The children have been working on elements taught in year 2, such as, expanded noun phrases and adverbs. This week we have planned and written letters from Zahra to her friend to tell them about the golden gardener’s award.
In maths we have been revisiting shape. We have looked at the properties of 2D and 3D shapes and have compared and sorted into different groups. We have recently been focussing on counting in 3’s – there are some great songs on YouTube to help your child practise this at home if you wish. There are mathletics tasks ready for to complete.
With only 1 week to go we are beginning to get organised for next year. There will be no further library books or reading books going home next week. If you have any outstanding library books or reading books at home, please bring them in next week. Although books are not being sent home, we will of course allow for plenty of opportunities for your children to read in school.
Next week the children will be bringing home some of the work that they have completed this year. They have a number of maths and English books that will be included in this. We would be very grateful if each child could bring in a bag for life or something similar for to bring the books home in.
Have a great weekend.
Miss Blick
