Year 2
Year 2 - 05.04.2019
I cannot believe we are at the end of term already! Where do the weeks go?
This week in English we have explored ‘Litterbugs’ which is a book set in the New Forest. The animals discover the forest has been ruined by litterbugs. They decide to confront them in order to solve the problem once and for all. We have enjoyed bringing the story to life through drama –making sure to include all of the characters from the story and performing to the rest of the class. We have also written our own posters about the danger of litter in the New Forest.
In maths we are in the revisiting addition. We are looking at adding two 2 digit numbers using different methods. We will be continuing this after the Easter Break, along with subtraction.
There are no specific spellings this week. I have given each child a copy of the Year 1 and Year 2 common exception words. By the end of Year 2 the children should be reading and spelling these. We work on these during class but you could go through some of the words they find tricky if you wish. The children know plenty of different ways for them to practise spellings, including wiggle words and rainbow words which they enjoy. There are also plenty of Mathletics tasks ready for completion and as always – keep reading!
Mrs Revell and I hope you all have a fantastic Easter and enjoy the break.
