Year 2
Year 2 - 08.02.2019
This week in maths we have been telling the time. We recapped o’clock and half past and have learnt about quarter to and quarter past. We are becoming more and more familiar with these and the children are enjoying telling the time throughout the day. Today we played a game in pairs where we all had to start our clocks at 6 o’clock and try to get to 12 o’clock in the quickest way using a range of moves – 1 hour, half an hour or a quarter of an hour.
In English we have started a new text called ‘The Great Explorer’. We have been using possessive apostrophes to describe the belongings that Tom has ready for his journey. We have also written descriptive pieces of writing using an illustration from the book of the Northern Lights. We also used a video clip of them to inspire our writing.
In science we have recorded the results of our paper houses investigation and look forward to planning our next investigation next week. Today we have ended the week with a very active drama lesson – bringing to life the journey of an explorer in the Antarctica.
I hope you all have a great weekend, despite the rain!
