Year 2
Year 2 - 25.01.2019
We have had a lovely week in year 2. In maths we have continued to explore 3D shapes. We have continued to name and describe the properties but also looked at sorting, grouping and comparing. We have worked on solving a variety of reasoning tasks – using our knowledge of faces, vertices and edges to help us do so. Next week we will be focussing on money – building up to making amounts and giving change. If you have any change that your children could play with/use this weekend that would be great practise.
In English we have written letters from Wolf to his Grandma to say sorry for not attending her party and to explain the real story behind his reputation. The children wrote brilliantly in 1st person and worked hard to edit and improve their writing. We have also looked at alternative versions of other fairy tales, ready for us to begin writing our own next week.
In science the children had a challenge – in groups build a strong house for one of the little pigs, BUT, you can only use paper. The class had some fantastic designs and worked so well in groups to begin to build their houses, adapting their plans along the way to improve them.
We have spent the afternoon creating wolf collages with newspaper and coloured paper. The outcomes are fabulous - well done year 2!
Thank you so much for all the allergy forms I have received back – we are very excited about baking next week! If you have not yet done so, please can you return the slip as soon as possible.
Have a great weekend.
Miss Blick
