This week, the highlight was definitely the 'Sleeping Beauty Panto' at the Village Hall. Many children really enjoyed it, and we thank the PTA for organising this event.
In English, we've been writing fact files for the dinosaurs we created last week. The children practiced writing about their dinosaurs' habitat, diet, appearance, and interesting facts.
In Maths, we continued exploring numbers to 20. We focused on adding by counting on from the largest number, finding number bonds to 20, and discussing one more and one less than numbers up to 20. The children enjoy using this free game to practice: Paint the Squares. I’ve also assigned some home learning on Edshed.
In Phonics, we focused on sounds: 'u' as in won and touch, 'se' as in cheese, 'ce/se' as in dance and horse, and 'ey' as in key and monkey. We also discussed regional differences in pronunciation. Tricky words this week include thought, through, friend, and work. Please continue practicing these at home to help the children spot them in their reading books. Please also see my e Collins hub blog!
In Art, we've been exploring different painting techniques using a variety of equipment, the children have been demonstrating their creative flare!
Finally; as part of our RE learning please could your child bring in an object that reminds them of someone special. This might be a photo, a gift or a toy. If possible please make sure this has their name on. Please bring this in on Monday 3rd February, ready for our RE lesson.
Thank you for your continued support. Have a lovely weekend.
