Year 1 - 13.12.24
What a fantastic week it has been for Year 1! I couldn’t be prouder of how well the children performed alongside Year 2. From learning songs and lines to understanding when to go on and off stage, they really rose to the occasion. A huge well done to every single one of them!
In Year 1 this week, we’ve been busy exploring, designing, and creating our very own 3D Christmas cards. The children have been experimenting with different levers and linkages to make their cards come to life, and their creativity has been incredible. We’re all looking forward to sharing these with you once we've had the chance to evaluate them next week.
In Maths, we’ve been learning all about 2D and 3D shapes—identifying their names and properties. It’s a great time to go on a shape hunt around the house or outside to spot the shapes we’ve been discussing in class!
For English, the children have been working hard to create their own "lost toy" posters, inspired by our recent text. We’ve been talking about how we might go about finding things we’ve lost, and it’s been lovely to see their ideas and creativity.
In Phonics, we’re revising everything we’ve covered so far this term, including new digraphs and tricky words. It’s really important to keep reading at home and looking out for these sounds and words in everyday texts—it helps the children consolidate their learning and apply it confidently.
Thank you, as always, for your continued support.
Wishing you all a wonderful weekend!
