Year 1 - Welcome Back 6.9.24
Welcome back, we hope you had a brilliant summer holiday and made some fantastic memories. We have been so impressed with how well the children have come back and settled. The children are learning the new routines in Owls quickly.
Today the children will come home with a reading book, diary and number fluency games. We have enjoyed listening to all the children read this week. You may find the colour band your child is reading differs from Reception, the books in Key Stage 1 are more challenging and we have chosen the colour we feel is most suitable for your child’s ability, fluency and confidence.
In PSHE, the children created a super class charter, to ensure our class is a happy and safe one. They had great ideas including; be kind, play together, kind hands, feet and words and use our manners.
In Literacy this week, the children have enjoyed reading ‘The Queen’s Hat’, making predictions about the story, designing their own hats and sequencing the story.
In Maths, we have been practising our accurate counting and representing numbers using the correct numeral. There will be home learning set weekly on Edshed to support the children with their number knowledge. Log on details can be found in your child’s reading diary.
We had a very exciting Friday, learning about how MAF support people who are less fortunate and isolated needing help with medical assistance, transporting cargo in a small plane. We sat in the plane and pretended to fly. The children wanted to go to many exciting places including; Egypt, the Moon and even the North Pole.
Finally, a huge plea please, we are still getting to know you all, please at the end of the day during pick up stand where we can see you and make yourself known. If you can wave when you see your child at the front of the line, this will aid a smooth pick up. On a Friday afternoons Mrs Kitcher will dismiss.
Please see attachments.
Have a lovely weekend, Year 1 Team
