Year 1
Friday 21st April 2023
And just like that, it’s the summer term!
I hope everyone had a wonderful break.
We have had a lovely first week back. In English, we have started our poetry unit. We have been reading the book ‘seaside poems’ and other poetry books. Some of us have even been writing poems at home to bring into school! It is so lovely to see them so engaged with this topic. Koala class are becoming really competent writers and I am so excited to see what they will achieve.
In maths, we have been learning to count in 5s to help us solve multiplication problems. Koala class have worked really hard to become confident in this and we are now starting to solve one step problems.
In geography, we are focusing on the seaside this half term. This will link really nicely to our trip to Lepe beach. This week, we identified key features of the beach and labelled different human and physical features that we could spot on Google Earth.
Our art unit also focuses on the seaside! We drew some lovely pictures of artist’s impressions of the seaside this week.
A reminder that PE is on a Tuesday and Friday. We go to the library on a Friday too.
I have set a Little Wandle book this week on Collins Ebooks. As these books get increasingly more challenging for the children, more consolidation at home will be really beneficial.
I have also set a maths shed task.
Have a lovely weekend!
