Year 1
Friday 23rd September 2022
Good afternoon,
What a lovely week we have had in Koala class.
In English, we have now completed our retell of the ‘Queen’s Hat’. I have been blown away with what the children have achieved and how hard they have worked. I know they feel very proud of their work too.
In maths, we have been adding one more to solve problems. The children were set challenges of collecting natural items outdoors to help them solve problems. We have also started some work on sequencing our day, focusing on what comes before and what comes after to help us.
Some of the children started Forest School this week, which they thoroughly enjoyed. The other half of the class who have not yet started will begin their lessons after October half term.
Thank you again to those who have volunteered to read on a Monday afternoon and Friday morning. If you would like to come in on those days, please do send me an email.
On that note, if it is possible to hear your child read every night at home, that would be wonderful. It really does make a huge difference!
You will soon be sent a letter inviting you to a phonics information evening. This will be an opportunity for you to learn about our new phonics scheme. I hope it will be possible for you to attend.
I would like to thank you all for your continued support and say again how proud I am of Year 1.
Have a lovely weekend.
