Happy Friday!
We have had a lovely week in Badger class.
I am sure you have already seen on Tapestry the wonderful writing the children have done about their family photos. I am so proud of the effort and enthusiasm they have put into this and their positive attitude to learning.
Yesterday, we did some finger painting. I really enjoyed listening to how creative the children were being with their ideas; from flowers and tractors to stepping stones and space ships!
Thank you for reading with your child this week at home. Mrs Shilton and I have heard them read this week and we are very impressed! These books are very repetitive but this is to ensure the children have the key skills of reading such as turning the page and most importantly pointing to each word as they read. Overlearning and repetition is vitally important when learning to read. We will change books on a Tuesday and Friday. Please ensure you sign the reading diary when you have read! Thank you for your support with this.
Phonics is in full swing now and I have set a reading book on Collins Ebooks for you to share together over the weekend. This is a wordless book as I wanted the children to get into the routine of reading in a small group three times a week and understanding the key skills of reading such as sitting, turning the pages and pointing out the title, pictures, page number etc.
I am looking forward to seeing you on Tuesday for the phonics information evening. If you are unable to make it please email me and I can catch you up on any information.
Have a lovely weekend.
Miss Prichard
