Friday Blog - Friday 13th January

Good afternoon everyone,

We've had a busy week, as always, in Badger Class. The children have enjoyed reading Lost and Found by Oliver Jeffers, hearing about the lonely penguin who left the South Pole to find a friend. We painted some fantastic pictures of the penguin. We also made boats to take the boy and penguin to the South Pole which we tested today to check that they float. Thank goodness the sun shone today so we could be outside for a bit!

There have been a few changes in our playground as well this week. Yesterday we spent most of 6the afternoon watching the men chop down a tree, with lots of oohs and aahs as the big branches fell to the ground.

In phonics we have learnt 4 more digraphs (oo - zoom to the moon, oo - hook a book, ar - march in the dark & or - born with a horn) and have been using them in our reading and writing. I will add the children's next phonics reading book to their e-library so they can share it with you. Please let me know if you are having any problems accessing the books  at home.

As we made our boats earlier in the week, our junk modelling supplies are quite low. We would gratefully receive any empty boxes or containers you could bring in.

Many thanks and have a great weekend,

The Year R Team
